I made a joke yesterday about the Sabres having a “Fire sale” and by Jesus was I right.
So ICYMI, the Sabres ownership cleared out 22 people yesterday including GM Jason Botterill, his assistant GMS, and a good chunk of their scouting staff as well as the AHL’s head coach and assistant coaches. According to Frank Seravalli, this could be money related, with the pandemic they’re losing money, or it could be the front office also being “fed up” with the team’s trajectory.
So, accurately:
I’m thinking this is more about the last few seasons more than the pandemic. You got players like Jack Eichel, who just said he’s fed up, and Jeff Skinner but you’re putting up 30-31-8 records? It’s time for a change so this was a huge step. The Sabres now have Kevyn Adams stepping in as GM. The next few weeks will be very telling about whether or not we’ll see signs of life from the Sabres next season.
