“As home to some of the world’s leading athletes, coaches and performance experts, IMG Academy is thrilled to partner with the top basketball players in the world and the entire WNBA family. We are truly looking forward to becoming the Official Home of the 2020 WNBA Season and working closely with the league in providing our best-in-class training and competition environment.” – Tim Pernetti, Executive Vice President, IMG Events & Media. Mark your calendars. Starting in July, the WNBA will be back for the 2020 season with a 22 game schedule at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Players from the leagues’ 12 teams will be housed there, practice as well as play games at their facilities. No huge traveling or splitting between hub cities. Players will get their full pay and benefits for the season.
You can read the full press release here but this is BIG news. More sports are coming back, more women’s leagues are getting the spotlight, and it looks like this summer isn’t going to be a wash after all. LFG.
