Emily Janiga was the Riveters’ mystery signing that I talked about last night. I will add a small called it because I had her on my list on 20 players.
Janiga has been jumping around the world playing hockey since 2016. In 2016-2017, she played with the Buffalo Beauts and put up 11 points (6G 5A) in 17 games and added 4 points (3G 1A) in 2 playoffs games to the Beauts Isobel Cup victory. She went over to the Chinese women’s leave for a year to play with the Vanke Rays before coming back to the NWHL in 2018 to play another season with the Beauts. In that season she put up 6 points (4G 2A) in 16 games with 1 goal in the 2 playoff games. She then jumped ships to the PWHPA for a season.
Now, she’s coming back to the NWHL but to a different team. Janiga will be great with the Riveters. She’s a productive, smart forward, which is what the team has needed more of. Honestly, the Rivs are amping up to be a beast of a team to face. They came close to another Isobel Cup run this year but with the skill they’re adding, we could see them soar next year.
