Lin-Manuel Miranda said it best “There’s nothin’ like summer in the city”.
Quarantine has been rough so far but I’ve realized how much I miss summer in Chicago. Even as someone who doesn’t particularly like the summer, there is something different about a sunny summer day in Chicago.
It’s when you’re walking along the riverwalk and there is a slight breeze the keeps you from overheating completely. The streets are lively and everywhere has something to do or see.
That photo is actually my wallpaper.
Just when the city is still filled with people but the air is carefree. You can go anywhere and do anything with no restrictions, everywhere is within walking distance.
A warm clear sky morning in Chicago holds so much potential. In the summer I’m always training into the city to go to different events. Whether it’s the Pride Parade or WGN Block Party, there’s always something to do and see. Even if you just wander around.
There is seriously nothing better than a summer day in Chicago and I can’t wait for them to be back. Now with the order to socially distance until at least April 30th, it seems like those days are further away than originally thought.
But we’ll get there, it will just take a bit longer. I hope everyone is hanging in there.
