Congrats Gabriel Landeskog, you’ve won life.
I don’t have a trophy so here is a gold star.
I have made up this award for Gabe to receive for a few reasons:
Landeskog, a 6’1″ 215 lbs left-winger, was just awarded NHL’s 2nd Star of the Week after 9 points (3G 6A) in 4 games. This season, he has 42 points (21G 21A) in 52 games. He’s averaging 19:57 on the ice this season with 4.4 point shares, 52.7% corsi for, and .81 points per game.
His team, the Colorado Avalanche, are soaring; 2nd in the Central Division, a 41-19-8 record, and seen as one of the biggest threats heading into the postseason.
Landeskog, in my opinion, is one of the best captains in the league. You can tell that the locker room respects him, he’s not too serious or too lenient. Landeskog is responsible, he’ll take the blame when things fall apart. The Avs have dealt with a number of injuries this season, currently without Nazem Kadri, Andre Burakovsky, Philipp Greubauer, Cale Makar, Mikko Rantanen, Matt Calvert, and Colin Wilson (I.E. 4 of their top 6 point producers). Landy has battled his own injury but kept this team excelling all the way. He’s the type of guy you want to play and fight for.
I have a good feeling for the Avs headed into the postseason, especially if you add in a return from any of the injured players I mentioned earlier, and there is no one more prepared to lead this team into a deep run.
Plus, his wife, Mellisa, and he welcomed their first child into the world. Please watch the videos on his IG because they’re all adorable.
Dude is having a great year, thus he has been awarded the “Man Rocket of Life” award, presented by me, Shortman Hams. It’s not a Stanley Cup but you’ll get there Landy.
(oh and lastly the guy is an absolute beauty but we all knew that so.)
