Cale Makar is an absolute treat to watch.
The 21-year-old rookie defenseman for the Colorado Avalanche and I’m so excited to watch this kid’s career go to the moon. In just his first season, Makar has 45 points (12G 33A) in 53 games played. He’s averaging 20:55 on the ice, has 43 blocked shots, 44 hits, 32 takeaways, and a +10 rating. Plus a 52.6% Corsi For percentage.
Makar already has 10 NHL playoff games under his belt because he came in for them during last season’s playoff run. In that run, Cale had 6 points (1G 5A) with 17:22 averaged per game.
Have I mentioned he’s got a wicked shot?
He’s only a rookie but I can’t wait to watch his game develop and grow as he gains more NHL experience. Makar and Quinn Hughes from Vancouver are going to be neck and neck in this Caulder Trophy race.
