WILD news out of the east tonight.
The trade deadline is tomorrow and the Caps just made a big move for themselves.
The Capitals picked up Ilya Kovalchuk from the Montreal Canadiens for a 2020 3rd Round Pick. The Canadiens will also retain 50% of Kovi’s salary.
This is a good move for the Capitals. They get a talented depth winger at a cheap price. Kovalchuk has 22 points (9G 13A) in 39 games since his NHL return.
Montreal was sad to see him go but according to LeBrun, the Habs will be in the bidding for Kovi come July 1st. He fought for a chance to get back and he took it for everything. If the Caps go on to win the Cup, Kovi will have the wildest story of them all.
