After missing 6 consecutive games with a concussion, Brendan Gallagher came back to the Montreal Canadiens tonight with a bang! Gally did what he does best, parked right in front of the goalie and got a gritty goal out of it.
That’s Gallagher’s 16th goal of the season in the 42 games he’s played. Gally is usually one of the durable players but he’s battled some tough injuries this season: missing 4 games in early January, coming back for one game against Edmonton, then sit out the next 6. The bye week seemed to work wonders for Gally’s return and he was tee’d up for a great return.
But now the real race to playoffs begins.
The Canadiens have some big competition coming up. Next is Florida (3rd in Atlantic) and then Columbus (1st in Eastern Wild Card) on Saturday and Sunday respectively. The team is 8 points from the 2nd Wild Card spot at 5th in the race but this last leg is where we can see some teams tank. It’s telling time for the Canadiens and their playoff hopes because it really is sink or swim.
