The Russian Machine Never Breaks broke (haha) the report this morning that in an interview, John Hoven said the NHL’s new Seattle team is going to be the Seattle Kraken. For the most part, people on Twitter have been hating on the name but in all honesty? I like it. Not only is it badass and different, but it’s also fitting for Seattle. Like how the whole west coast has aquatic names (Ducks, Sharks, Canucks), it fits perfectly.
Plus branding will be easy considering you can just put “Release The Kraken” on everything. There are hundreds of jersey ideas on the internet and my only hope there is that they don’t go with green and blue. The Canucks are just north of them so that would be annoying as hell.
Seattle’s front office did try and shut down rumors but it sounded more like a high schooler bullshitting part of their paper to hit the word count.
This is the only other name I will accept other than Kraken.
