NHL Will Include Women’s 3-on-3 Game At All-Star Weekend

Per this article from ESPN’s Emily Kaplan, the NHL will now have a 3-on-3 women’s scrimmage game as apart of the NHL’s All-Star Weekend. The two teams will be divided into Team America and Team Canada.

This is amazing for Women’s hockey. We all remember last year when Kendall Coyne took part in the fastest skater event and now there will be a full game for women’s hockey!

The NHL will announce more about it and who will be playing later this week but the players will be coming from the PWHPA. That comes as little surprise seeing as the organization has been fighting tooth and nail for air time and visibility. I attended the Dream Gap Tour in Chicago and I can confirm that the games are absolutely thrilling to watch. Those players have so much heart to give with everything they have put on the line. This game alone will do wonders for their cause.

This past year has been HUGE for women’s hockey growth. Instead of list them off the top of my head, I’ve covered a big majority of what has happened here on Ham Sports so you can read about them here.
