We got more women’s hockey on the horizon!
The NWHL dropped some big news today, announcing that the league’s 5th annual All-Star game will take place in Boston on February 9th, 2020 at 2:30 PM ET. There will be a skills competition (Fastest Skater and Hardest Shot) the day before on February 8th at 8 PM ET.
The whole roster has not been released yet but Commissioner Dani Rylan named the first 8 All-Stars. All eight players have been apart of the league since it’s beginning days in 2015.
From the Boston Pride: (11GP, 11-0-0 22Pts)
- Jillian Dempsey F (11GP 8G 21P)
- Kaleigh Fratkin D (11GP 2G 12P)
From the Buffalo Beauts: (10GP, 6-4-0 12Pts)
- Corinne Buie F (10GP 2G 6P)
From the Connecticut Whales: (10GP, 0-9-1 0Pts)
- Shannon Doyle D (10GP 1G 6P)
- Jordan Brickner D (10GP 1G 7P)
- Elena Orlando D (10GP 0G 2P)
From the Metropolitan Riveters: (11GP, 4-7-0 8Pts)
- Kiira Dosdall D (6GP 0G 0P)
- Madison Packer F (11GP 6G 13P)
Rylan also announced that Madison Packer (Metropolitan Riveters) and Jillian Dempsey (Boston Pride) will be the captains of the two teams in the 4-on-4 tournament.
The only team not represented so far is the Minnesota Whitecaps but this roster is not complete. I expect that players such as McKenna Brand (F, 11GP, 12G, 22P), Amanda Boulier (D, 10GP, 1G, 13P), Lovisa Selander (G, 9W, 1.70 GAA, .946 SV%), and Kelsey Neumann (G, 3W, 2.64 GAA, .921 SV%) to be apart of the final All-Star roster.
More information is going to come out as the competition nears. Both the competition and game will be streamed on Twitch so if you can’t make it you can still watch.
