The Devils get variety from this trade when it comes to their prospects.
Nate Schnarr is a 20-year-old centre who has played 22 games with the Tucson Roadrunners this season with 9 points (1G 8A). Nick Merkley is a 22-year-old forward that has played 26 games with the Roadrunners this season and has 16 points (3G 13A). Kevin Bahl is a 19-year-old defenseman that is still playing with the Ottawa 67’s in the OHL, he’s played in 28 games this season with 20 points (5G 15A) and will go to the World Junior championships.
The picks have a lot of conditions and Pierre LeBrun broke it down here:
The Coyotes also get Blake Speers, a 22-year-old forward playing in the AHL. Speers has played 10 games this season with 1 assist.
This is a trade that NHL fans have been waiting for. I wrote about it the other day when Hall was scratched against Colorado but nothing came from it. Hall was scratched against Arizona as well but once again, we’ve had to sit back and watch the past few days.
Hall is likely to test the Free Agent Market come this summer which comes as no surprise. Arizona is looking to make a deep playoff run and adding Hall to the mix will only help them.
The Coyote’s cap space is tight BUT the Devil’s will retain 50% of his salary and on top of that, the Yotes will be using LTIR to fit him in.
It’s about time this trade happened and Arizona really won out.
