McDavid was the first to lock in the big 50 with the final point off an assist to Josh Archibald’s first goal of the season.
With getting to 50 first, Connor etches his name in a number of record books. This is the 2nd time that he’s been the first in the NHL to hit 50 points, the first time he did this was January 12th, 2017. McDavid also is the 6th player in the last 25 years to reach 50 points in 29 games or less.
Leon Draisaitl joins McDavid at 50 with following 2 goals, one in the 2nd period and one in the 3rd. This is the 5th season of Leon’s 6 that he has over 50 points.
With these two leading Edmonton, things are looking well but their lack of thorough depth is worrying. The team is leading the Pacific with a 17-9-3 record and two of the best player in the NHL. BUT While McDavid and Draisitl have 50 points each while Zack Kassian is 3rd in points with 19. Although they’re winning games, if one of the two top boys goes down this team is going to be floundering.
