Dallas Stars Finally Find Success

I’ve talked numerous times about the Star’s disastrous start to the season. At one point the Stars were 1-7-1 and their leaders were not too high up in point totals.

Now, the Dallas Stars are 13-8-2 heading into Thanksgiving week. The team got their shit together and went on a tear. In 14 games, the Stars were 12-1-1 with 49 goals for and 26 goals against.

In those 14 games, Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn (I defended in his rough stretch here) have collected 25 points combined in that time, 15 for Seguin and 10 for Benn. In the 10 games before that, Benn has 3 points and Seguin had 4.

Jamie Benn now has 5 goals and 8 assists with a +5 rating. In the last 3 Stars’ games, Benn has the Game Winning Goal, a franchise record.

Tyler Seguin, now leading the team in points, has 19 points (6 goals and 13 assists) with a +5 rating. Miro Heiskanen is 2nd on the team with 17 points (6 goals 11 assists) with Jamie Benn in 3rd. The Stars’ puck control has been on the rise in games recently. Denis Gurianov and Roope Hintz have been massive this season, although Hintz has been out with injury since November 5th.

In the Dark Times (TM) the team’s corsi for could be around 39% and at best 50%. Now, there is a steadier increase where the stars fall between 52-47%. Their production has jumped and the team’s reliance on goalies Ben Bishop and Anton Khudobin are not as dire as it once was.

We’re beginning to see the Stars team that battled with the Blues in last season’s playoffs, the team is keeping their head up more and getting heavy on themselves less. They have a solid lineup across the board so it’s about time that their gameplay straightens up. I’m happy that things are finally looking up for the Stars, they are going to make it deep into playoffs this year if they keep defending the fort like this.
