Following the playoff elimination, Hyman had surgery to repair the torn ACL. ACL surgery takes about 6 months to heal so Hyman has missed training camp and the first month and a half of the season.
BUUUUUT yesterday, the Maple Leafs announced that Hyman will be eligible to play tonight against the New York Islanders!
The Leafs could use him back on the ice, both production-wise and leadership-wise. The Leafs are 9-6-4 and on a two-game losing skid. Throw in the added problem of Mitch Marner being injured and you’ve got a crockpot of struggles.
Having Hyman is an added bonus in a time where the team needs to flip the script and find consistency. It may take him a game or two to shake off the rust but in due time he’ll be back to playing like he was last season.
