With the injury of goalie Philipp Grubauer, the Colorado Avalanche called up 22-year-old goalie Adam Werner from the Colorado Eagles to hop in as backup. Tonight, Colorado’s starter Pavel Francouz was injured just 31 seconds into the game so Werner got his time to shine.
And shine he did.
Werner played the remaining 59:29, faced 40 shots on goal and stopped all of them.
Colorado, on the other hand, got 4 goals past Connor Hellebuyck from Nate MacKinnon (2), Cale Makar, and Joonas Donskoi.
He may only be a kid on his first game but he is ready for the NHL-level of competition. The team will be needing him in net as they battle through Grub’s injury. Here are some of the best highlights of the night.
Welcome to the NHL Adam!
