Adam Boqvist is making his NHL debut against the LA Kings. The 19-year-old was selected 8th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks back in 2018 but has yet to see the NHL ice. Before last night that it.
Before joining the Rockford IceHogs this season, Boqvist played with the London Knights last season in the OHL where he put up 60 points (20G 40A) in 54 games as a defenseman. This season with the IceHogs, he’s only had 1 goal in 6 games. Now he’s bringing that sick skill to the NHL where the Blackhawks are in need of him.
In his first NHL game, Boqvist played 15:38 at even strength, 17 seconds on the power play, and 10 seconds on the penalty kill. He had 1 shot on goal, 3 hits, and 1 block during that time.
Although the Hawks lost in OT, it was a great start to this talented kid’s career. He’s going to be a big asset to the Blackhawks moving forward.
Welcome to Chicago, Adam!
