Penguins Lose Malkin and Bjugstad

The Penguins have placed Nick Bjugstad and Evgeni Malkin on the IR with lower-body injuries.

Malkin is out with a “soft tissue injury” that is going to keep Geno out at least a month. It sucks to hear after Malkin worked his ass off this summer to have a comeback season. In the first 2 (1 and 2/3) games Geno played this season, he already has 1 goal. Malkin will be out longer than Bjugstad.

Bjugstad’s injury isn’t specifically specified. The 27-year-old was injured in the same game as Malkin and hasn’t recorded any points yet this season.

The Penguins have recalled Sam Lafferty and Andrew Agozzino from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to cover for these two.

It’s early enough in the season that there is still time for a comeback so don’t worry too much Pens fans. Malkin has been pretty firey to start the season and I’d put my money on him coming back hot to the lineup.
