Alex DeBrincat Is Staying In Chicago

Alex DeBrincat has signed a three-year extension with the Chicago Blackhawks that holds a $6.4 million AAV. The 21-year-old has one more season left on his ELC where he’ll have an $894,166 AAV before getting bumped up to $6,400,000 next season.

DeBrincat is a HUGE part of this Blackhawks “Rebuild-But-We’re-Not-Calling-It-That”. The kid came in hot, scored 52 points (28 G 24 A) in his first season while playing all about 14:48 in all 82 games.

This season, DeBrincat stepped up with his old buddy, Dylan Strome. Brinksy had 76 points (41 G 35 A) in all 82 games. Brinksy’s number jumped to 17:42 per game.

This kid is the future of Chicago, he reminds me of Patrick Kane in the aspect of he’s a small guy with a lot of talent and people underestimate him. He’ll (hopefully) be in Chicago for a very long time and I can see him, one day, becoming captain even after Jonathan Toews retires.

But for now, DeBrincat is in Chicago for another 4 seasons. Next signing, Dylan Strome.
