Ben Lovejoy Retires After 11 NHL Seasons

Ben Lovejoy, 35-year-old defenseman, has announced that he will be hanging up the skates after 11 seasons in the NHL. Lovejoy announced his retirement in a this tweet:

Lovejoy started his career as a free agent, signing with Pittsburgh in 2007 and growing into a success. He played his career across 4 NHL teams: Pittsburgh Penguins, Anaheim Ducks, New Jersey Devils, and Dallas Stars. He played in 544 NHL games with 20 goals and 81 assists for 101 points. Defensively, he had 866 blocked shots, 946 hits, and 134 takeaways.

Lovejoy won 1 Stanley Cup with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2016. He played like a second goaltender for his teams and he’ll be missed out on the ice. Congrats on a fantastic career, Ben!
