Mats Zuccurello Unlikely To Return To Dallas

As much as Stars fans would love to see Mats Zuccarello make his return next season in a Stars jersey, as July 1st approaches it’s starting to seem unlikely.

According to this article from The Athletic, the Minnesota Wild are in hot pursuit for Zucc. He did well in the little time he played with the Stars. He played in 2 regular season games with 3 points. In playoffs, Zucc managed 11 points in 13 games. He’ll be missed by fans but the Stars can be chasing one more free agent to take his place.

Joe Pavelski.

Pavs only met with 2 teams and has made it apparent that he won’t be returning to San Jose. Pavelski has met with Tampa Bay and Dallas and there has been talk from various Stars reporters that Pavs can be coming to the Big D.

Pavelski has been in the league for 13 seasons (aged: 34 almost 35) and he would be fantastic for the Stars. He’s played in 963 career regular season games with 355 goals and 406 assists. He averages 18:53 on the ice and is a big two way forward. Pavelski carries the puck well and he’s a natural, veteran leader.

He’s an absolute catch. Pavs also has the drive that most of the Stars’ roster has because he’s never won a Cup in San Jose. Michael Russo, who wrote the article about Zucc being pursed by the Wild, said on twitter that Pavelski’s biggest motivation is winning the Cup, and he thinks he can do that in Dallas.

That says something big about what the Stars have in place. They bought out Val Nichushkin today so they could clear up some cap space and it would be wise to use that for Pavelski, Jason Dickinson, and MAYBE Ryan Hartman (I would love that) if they can reach some agreement.

Be excited Stars fans, Pavelski can bring this team together with a neat little bow and we could see the boys raise a Cup soon.
