The Cubs Have A Day

The day started rough for the Cubs. They went down 4-1 by the bottom of the 3rd. Their right fielder, Carlos Gonzalez was ejected in the 4th whole arguing with the ump, it was a tough start. But the team rallied and came back from a 6-1 deficit to win 9-7.

Tyler Chatwood started and went through 5 innings with 6 hits and 6 runs allowed. Cishek, Kintzler, and Strop joined the party with an inning each before Craig Kimbrel made his debut. Kimbrel closed out the game for the Cubs and only allowed one hit. And Chicago answered accordingly.

The Cubs also had a special guest sing at the 7th Inning Stretch.

After the 9-7 victory, the MLB announced that Javier Baez and Willson Contreras have been elected as starters for the All-Star game. Contreras will be making his 2nd appearance in a row. Javy will also be making his 2nd appearance in a row but this year he’s at a different position. This makes Javy the first player in MLB history to to start 2 consecutive All-Star games at two different in-fielder positions.

It’s a great day of the Cubs and let’s hope they can keep this momentum going further with more W’s and more Go Cubs Go.
