Blackhawks Trade For Different Quenneville

Is it weird to make a trade for the guy who is first cousin, once removed from the coach you fired after bringing you 3 Stanley Cups? No? Okay, proceed.

The Hawks made a trade yesterday. I said before that it was likely for John Hayden to get traded and yesterday, Bowman exiled Hayden to New Jersey (who just had an awesome weekend) in exchange for JOHN Quenneville. J O H N.

I swear I got 30 text saying “lol thought it was a trade for Joel!” I wish, next case.

Once again, after Strome’s flip after being traded, I’m not gonna sit here and shit all over this trade. I do think the Hawks could have gotten more for Hayden though. Hayden played in 54 games this season with 3 goals and 2 assists. He struggled but maybe this move will be good for him.

Now onto the newer Quenneville.

JOHN Quenneville, a 23-year old centre, hasn’t seen much time on NHL ice over the course of the 3 years since being Drafted 30th overall in 2014. He’s played in 33 games with 2 goals and 3 assists. He averages 12:18 on the ice over those 33 games. He’s 6’1″ and 195 lbs, so the Hawks don’t lose a lot of bulk.

Quenneville great with puck possession and skates well too. He hasn’t been given a shot at the big leagues too often but that can change in Chicago.

Quenneville is up for Restricted Free Agency so there is a chance he can move elsewhere but for now, let’s just keep it positive. Once we see him on the ice, he could pick up chemistry with another player and boom we got magic!

But one thing is for sure: I’m accidentally gonna call him Joel 45 times a day.
