We’re in the Endgame now.
Only 4 teams are left in the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. And of them only 1 Wild Card Team remains. The Carolina Hurricanes slipped into playoffs following a 46-29-7 season. In the regular season the Hurricanes were a hot topic both on and off the ice but it’s no surprise that they’ve lasted this long into playoffs.
In Round 1, the Canes defeated the reigning Stanley Cup Champs, the Washington Capitals in a 7 game series. The Hurricanes out scored the Caps 21-20, as well as outshot them 234-190. They maintained control of the puck for most of the series and were overall dominate and forced a game 7 that went into double overtime.
The next series was a cake walk for the Hurricanes. They swept the New York Islanders. The Canes out scored the Islanders as well, 13-5. Although it was a sweep, the Islanders did prove a tough fight while on the ice. But in the end, the Canes got a nice long break while they awaited their next opponent.
Now the Hurricanes are facing off against the Boston Bruins. The Bruins already took game 1 in a tough game. Carolina was leading 2-1 going into the third period but they gave up 4 goals, causing them to fall 2-5. They still managed to out shoot the Bruins but they couldn’t get anything into the net to even the score.
Of course, it’s still Game 1 and anything can happen. After the run that this team has had I think they’re going to make it a little further into the playoffs.
