Okay, welcome to Hell we’re all suffering.
So the Dallas Stars lost in Game 6 to the St. Louis Blues. Which fine, that’s not why I’m mad (I’m a little mad but it’s fine). The real thing I’m mad about is one of the goals is complete and utter bullshit.
Let’s rewind.
So this starts with a shot from Colton Parayko that drilled Stars’ goaltender Ben Bishop in the collarbone. Bishop went down and stayed down on the ice, holding his neck/collarbone in pain. Bishop is not getting up.
And for some reason, these blind zebras didn’t call the play dead. Thus the Blues took another shot and they scored.
The goal is horseshit.
Before you start bitching that the rule is: “When a player is injured so that he cannot continue play or go to his bench, the play shall not be stopped until the injured player’s team has secured possession of the puck.” (via Mike Heika on Twitter).
BUT the 2nd part is:
A goalie lying on the ice holding his neck seems like a pretty serious injury to me. Regardless, it’s a different situation when there is a goalie in question. If it was a defensemen or forward, they can leave and head towards the bench. A goalie’s sole job is to stay IN net.
The goal should have been disallowed, it’s a bullshit goal. The goalie is clearly injured on the ice and yet the refs are like “lol it’s fine” That makes no sense at all. Call the play dead, the man is down on the ice in his goal.
Ben Bishop ended up getting x-rays of his collarbone but is said to be okay. Even if the Stars still ended up losing (which high possibility) I’d be less pissed if this goal had been disallowed. Regardless, the goal should have been disallowed. Ref you suck.
