Conor Garland Signs Two-Year Extension

The Arizona Coyotes have signed Conor Garland to a two-year contract extension. It was about time the Coyotes resigned him, he is the type of player the Yotes need.

This has been Garland’s first call up to the NHL and in the 36 games he’s played, he’s scored 12 goals and collected 15 points with a +3 rating.

We can shoot back and forth all day about numbers but one thing about this kid is he’s a tough son of a bitch. Earlier this season, Garland took a puck off the head and knocked it into the goal, even more impressive than that? He got his stitches, came back to the game, and scored another goal on the power play.

He’s ruthless at 5’10” and 165 lbs he’s not the guy you’d expect to be throwing people into the glass. He’s got 10 PIM so far and laid out 24 big hits for his team. He’s going to be a pivotal player for this team moving forward with his undeterred spirit and tenacity.

The terms of the contract have not been publicized, per the Coyotes policy. The Coyotes GM John Chayka said about Garland:

“Conor has come onto our team and made an impact through his work ethic and willingness to get to the net and score goals. He’s a great success story for our organization as a later round pick and the development process he went through to get here. We’re thrilled to get him signed long-term.” (x)

This Coyotes team is becoming dangerous. With the addition of Alex Galchenyuk and Vinnie Hinostroza, leaders like Oliver Ekman-Larsson, this team has been slowly creeping closer to playoff contention. This year, the Yotes are just 2 points out of the playoffs with 18 games left. They may not make the playoffs this year but they are a team to look out for. The addition of Garland for at least 2 more years is a big benefit to this team.
