Chicago Blackhawks Turning the Tide

With a 5 game win streak, the Chicago Blackhawks have flipped the script on their season so far. They’ve been all over the map, from last place to a now steady climb towards playoff contention. Chicagoans have stars in their eyes with this streak, seeing as it’s the best stretch the Hawks have had this season.

On January 19th, the Blackhawks were in dead last for the whole league with 41 points. The next day, the Hawks beat the Washington Capitals 8-5, pulling them into second to last. And from there on, the Hawks have been on a tear.

From there, the Hawks have won another 4 in a row to pull themselves up to 51 points, just 3 points out of a playoff spot. The team has grown even in their last 10 games with a record of 5-3-2. The Hawks have scored 28 goals while allowing only 15. Their power play has been doing better as well, with the team scoring on 7 of 16 opportunities.

Dylan Strome has been a vital key in the Hawks success so far. In the 5 game win streak, he has 3 goals and 5 assists. He has been thriving ever since being traded to the Blackhawks, something people hoped for when he was reunited with old buddy, Alex DeBrincat. In his 30 games as a Hawks, Strome has 10 goals and 14 assists (both career highs). Strome has really found his place on this Blackhawks team.

If the Hawks continue on this tear they’ll be able to at least make the wildcard. From here on out it’s going to have to be about consistency and confidence. The trade deadline is looming and who knows what that is going to bring but for now, things are looking up for the Blackhawk’s season.
